Robin Williams is Professor of Social Research on Technology at The University of Edinburgh, and Director of The Institute for the Study of Science, Technology and Innovation Robin Williams was recruited by the university of Edinburgh in 1986 to lead its Centre under the ESRC Programme on Information and Communications Technologies. Since them he developed an interdisciplinary research programme into 'the social shaping of technology' through over 50 externally funded projects and established the Institute for the Study of Science, Technology and Innovation (ISSTI). His personal research focuses on the design, implementation and use of Information and Communication Technologies, particularly in relation to enterprise systems, e-health and information infrastructures.
